How Do They Determine Whether You Get a Tax Stimulus Check or Direct Deposit?
I keep seeing information lately regarding the tax stimulus checks however haven't seen anything anywhere stating how it's determined which you get. I assume it's based on how you received your tax return? Hmm…

Yes, your assumption is correct.
From the IRS website-
Stimulus Payments will be direct deposited for taxpayers who select that option when filing their 2007 tax returns. Taxpayers who already filed and requested direct deposit won't need to do anything else to receive the Stimulus Payment. Taxpayers who did not request Direct Deposit for their 2007 refund will receive a paper check by mail. The IRS reminds taxpayers who haven't filed their 2007 returns yet that Direct Deposit is the fastest way to get both regular refunds and Stimulus Payments.

They give you your rebate the same way you received your tax return. If they have your bank information, they will deposit it directly.

You assume right, it's how you got your federal refund - and that's stated in several places on the irs.gov site
