IRS Stimuli Rebate… delay in direct deposit! Question?
I was scheduled to receive mine today May 9th. I'm not in dire need of that stimuli $ but was worried because it did not go through. I called the IRS hotline and a very rude-toned lady answered my call after waiting 18 minutes on hold. I asked her what's with the delay with my rebate and asked if she knows if I will receive it via DD or check. Im so sure I chose a DD when I used turbo tax but wanted to double check. After putting me on hold and finally getting back to me, she told me since I am a first time filer, my tax returns have not been fully processed. Does that make any sense? I just read on the IRS site that if you filed near the April 15 deadline, you might encounter a delay. I filed March 26th.
MY question to those who have not received their May 9th DD… when did you file and are you first time filers?? Thanks a bunch.
Oh well…. I was actually planning on stimulating the economy with my shopping!

Possible, there is problem because the original plan to Direct Deposit for your IRS rebate, May 9, 16, and 23. Somehow, on April 24 or 25, the president announced to start rebate this Monday, IRS told us that cannot start until May 2. So, IRS will DD on May 2, 9, and 16. The president announced at the last time because he want hurry due to economic problem, then he caused IRS to get headache… Take you time to get your rebate. If you did not receive it for more than two weeks after estimated date, you should contact with IRS and see what is up…

Keep checking your account. Remember this is money from the government that you weren't expecting, so it should be extra money. Which is lucky for me cause my May rent check just barely went through. Thanks Uncle Sam.!

If you haven't gotten your refund direct deposited yet it is likely that you will have a delay in getting your rebate check. They use info from your return to decide how much you will get. If they are still processing your return then you will have to wait.

I'm with you, I actually filed around February 21. The IRS took my tax payment out of my bank account on February 25. I was scheduled to receive my DD today, but nothing yet. I know if you have preparation fees taken from your refund, you will end up getting a paper check later, but I used free file, owed tax, and had IRS take it directly from my account.

I also expected to receive my rebate check today by direct deposit. I filed early February through Taxact and am not a first time filer. I contacted my bank to inquire, and was told many people have not received their rebate as expected. It appears that the IRS schedule is not up-to-date.

I was supposed to get my rebate today May 9th and I also used turbo tax and filed my return on March 28th ad this was not my first time using turbo tax or filing. I definitely selected the DD option. I called my local bank and they told me I might be getting it by check because of turbo tax.
Let me know when you get your $$$

I called the IRS and was on hold over an hour. I used turbo tax which is similar to ever other tax program out there. Turbo tax is "Free" but i think they charge a small fee to do direct deposit and definately charge if you want to take steps towards the tax deduction section. Anyhow, the irs told me that if i am charged anything and i have it deducted from my refund. . . . then turbo tax virtually opens a temp. back account with them to process your refund and then later transfers the money to you from their account rather than let the IRS deposit it with you. because you get your money from turbo tax or any other tax filer the irs does not recognize your bank account and will not deposit it.

Mine was due on the 9th, but has not arrived. We filed with H&R Block online and received our refund by DD in a few days back in Feb. Since they already had all the DD info, something is definately up. Oh well. Since it's extra money, we're not out anything, but it would be nice if the Government would do as they say. They certainly expect us to.

Hi, another reason you may not be getting that direct deposit…Here's what I found on the irs.gov website
"Q. I chose direct deposit for my 2007 tax refund but also requested my electronic filing and/or tax preparation fees be deducted from my refund. Does that affect my stimulus payment?
A. If you requested that your electronic filing or tax preparation fee be deducted from the amount of your refund, you have entered into a financial agreement with the tax preparation provider or e-file software company for a refund anticipated check (RAC). Both Refund Anticipation Checks (RACs) and Refund Anticipation Loans (RALs) are bank products. The money that is deposited into your bank account comes from the financial institution associated with your electronic filing software provider or tax preparation provider, not directly from the IRS. Taxpayers who use RALs, RACs or enter into similar loans or financial agreements with their tax professional or tax software companies will not receive their economic stimulus payments by direct deposit. Instead they will get a paper check that will be issued according to the schedule that has been published for paper check distribution."
So, if you (as we did) had your filing fees deducted from your refund…you will NOT be getting direct deposit but rather, a paper check.
