When IRS stimulus checks are withheld for back child support, how long does it take to get the check?
My ex husband says that his stimulus check is supposed to come to me for back support, he has already received his portion of the stimulus check that remained after the arrears was caught up. It's been 3 weeks and I haven't received anything. Also, I'm not sure if it will come as a check in the mail from the IRS or will it go through the state child support enforcement? ( I live in Illinois) I didn't know who to call to ask, IRS or child support enforcement??

Call the child support agency - Public Aid in Illinois, I believe. As the stimulus check was taken by the child support agency, they will be in charge of releasing it to you. With federal/state income tax returns that are "intercepted" for child support, states usually hold those 60 days … but get that specifically from your local child support agency. YOU MAY GET IT next week some time,it takes about 4 weeks.call cse agency if your case is with them and they'll tell you how you'll get the check,if you get current payments from him through the cse then you'll get the rebate in the same method you get your current payments.

Depends. If FMS knows that he's single and there is no spouse that might file an Injured Spouse claim, you could see it in a few weeks. If he has a spouse, or if FMS doesn't know his marital status, they have to hold the offset for 6 months to give a spouse time to file an Injured Spouse claim.

contact your local Attorney General office, you will not receive a check directly from IRS.

my wife receives her child support by direct deposite. she has not gotten any support from her x in 1 1/2 years, she had a deposite from the irs from the stimulus check for back child support. if you dont get it, you should call and ask . at the same time my father still has not gotten his stimulus check, something about a mistake and now they are backed up.
