Who agrees that Obama’s socialism is black reparations for slavery?

‘I consistently believe that when it comes to . . . reparations,” Obama recently told a gathering of minority journalists, “the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds.”

A few days later, he clarified his remarks, saying he’s not calling for direct cash payments to descendents of slaves, but rather indirect aid in the form of government programs that will “close the gap” between what he sees as white America and black America.

He says government should offer “universal” programs — such as universal health care, universal mortgage credits, college tuition, job training and even universal 401(k)s — that “disproportionately affect people of color.”

In other words, reparations by another name.

Obama knows that if he pushes too hard on reparations, he might scare off white voters. So he couches race-specific welfare as “universal” social programs that appeal to broad-based political coalitions — “even if they disproportionately help minorities,” he confides in his book, “Audacity of Hope.”

Obama has a name for his scheme: “universal strategies.”

“An emphasis on universal, as opposed to race-specific, programs isn’t just good policy,” he wrote. “It’s also good politics.”

Maybe so. But not all his plans for reparations are roundabout. His book and Web site outline a separate plan calling for essentially a government bailout of the inner cities. Among other things, he proposes:

• Doling out faith-based grants “targeting ex-offenders.”

• Subsidizing supermarket chains that relocate to the inner city to deliver “fresh produce” to blacks, helping wean them off unhealthy fast food.

• Imposing “goals and timetables for minority hiring” on large corporations whose work forces are deemed too white.

• Continuing to fund the Community Development Block Grant program, Head Start and HUD public housing subsidies.

• Funding Small Business Administration loans for minority businesses who train ex-felons, including gangbangers, for the “green jobs” of the future, such as installing extra insulation in homes.

• Doubling the funding for federal after-school programs such as midnight basketball.

• Subsidizing job training, day care, transportation for inner-city poor, as well as doubling the funding of the federal Jobs Access and Reverse Commute program.

• Expanding the eligibility of the earned income tax credit to include more poor, and indexing it to inflation.

• Adopting entire inner-city neighborhoods as wards of the federal government.

• Spending billions on new inner-city employment programs, including prison-to-work programs.

This is just a down payment on the “economic justice” Obama has promised the NAACP — financed by “tax laws that restore some balance to the distribution of the nation’s wealth,” he says in his book.

And the indirect aid he’s proposing now could quickly turn into cash transfers once Obama is safely ensconced in the White House.

Claiming “blacks were forced into ghettos,” Obama is certainly sympathetic to the idea of reparations. His church has actively petitioned for them for decades. And he’s strongly suggested there’s a legal case to be made for them.

“So many of the disparities that exist in the African-American community today can be directly traced to inequalities passed on from an earlier generation that suffered under the brutal legacy of slavery and Jim Crow,” he said. “We still haven’t fixed them.”

He assumes the economic gap is a legacy of discrimination and largely unrelated to personal responsibility. He also makes it seem things haven’t gotten better for blacks.

In this, Obama is intellectually dishonest. In his book, he cites statistics showing a 70% rise over the past two decades in the number of “Latino families considered middle class,” but never cites one stat showing the even more impressive gains of the black middle class. He complains about low black wages, but never mentions the quantum leap in black home-ownership rates.

Why? Such stats would undermine his case for roundabout reparations. Even if it were true, he says, “better isn’t good enough.”

“The problems of inner-city poverty arise from our failure to face up to an often tragic past,” Obama said.

Now it’s payback time.

Up until his decision to become a unifying person, Obama was a huge supporter of both reparations and racial preference programs. Sorry, I'm not buying the snake oil he's selling. His entire life has been devoted to community organizer, an occupation that lawyers who can't cut it pursue. It involves nothing more than keeping the poor believing that they are victims and every successful person is in that position by stepping on the poor.

He bundled native Americans in with his reparations bid. The exact quote is:

"I consistently believe that when it comes to whether it's Native Americans or African-American issues or reparations, the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds."

Seems to me he is saying that the government should be paying reparations. He forgets that the government isn't the one paying, it's the taxpayers of this country. More evidence of his wealth transfer ambitions.

What makes him the spokesman for all those poor and abused blacks? He only benefited from affirmative action to advance with his power-hungry ambitions.

actually this is 100% spin and a misquote……but we all know slavery and segregation is directly linked to a lot of poor blacks in the inner city today, thats an undeniable fact…but their are a lot of us coming up because of certain economic leg ups we have been given…I think it is reperations enough

I love all the dots before the word "reparations" - I'd love to see the real quote. He was probably talking about something totally unrelated!
This is all nonsense. Obama would most like to do something to help all Americans, of all colors, and including the working class Joes who depend on things like healthcare from their employers, and sick leave which Republicans have let all companies cancel.

Racism. It would help ALL RACES in this nation and others to learn history, for real. Blacks were sold into slavery BY THEIR OWN BLACK PEOPLE to Portuguese merchants 100 YEARS BEFORE US occupation by “WHITE” people. NO you say? LOOK IT UP! And what is a “WHITE” person anyway? I am fed up with check boxes that say “Hispanic, Black, White-Non- Hispanic.” Where the heck are Netherlands, France, Spain, England, German, Irish, Scot, Italian and others? My skin color is what it is, but that does not make me or any other person a slice of Velveeta cheese - homogenized personage. “White” people who settled in N. America, including my grandparents, died to emancipate slaves of EVERY color in the Civil War. WAY back then, when a shell went off in his head, my uncle had surgery and miraculously survived with a plate in his head. YEAH, white people HAVE and DO make sacrifices for ALL Americans. The difference is that “white” people are hated for it. My “white” people lived right next to the same Puerto Riquenos, Italians and Black enclaves in the slums with the “whites”.
Don’t you KNOW that there were “WHITE” slaves lured here under false pretense to “work off their debt”? Think again and try to crack open a world history book. ANY hatred, disrespect and division between U.S. people because of our skin color, race or gender in this country perpetuates, (do you need to look that up?), hatred, classism, racism, (heck yeah, some blacks can be and absolutely are racist!), and this just creates polarity between ALL people in our country. Would I choose to return to my forbears’ homeland? Maybe, yes. But I am here now. And I believe that each of us must be the best we can be and blossom where we are planted. This means erasing the divide between colors. I can only say that I am grateful for the women of color who have embraced me in this life as I am, on equal grounds, and as a sistaly sister. Had I run into Michelle, who knows where I would be? Certainly not with warm fuzzy feelings towards people of color, given the excerpts I have read from her paper when she was at Princeton, was that at law school? You sound excited about Obama’s plan of segregationist help, or hopefully I am reading this wrong.
I espouse the Democratic Party. I will not endorse the obamas as the person to lead my country.

There's no doubt that he is treating different segments of society differently. The around 130 votes where he voted only "Present" was largely because he didn't want to upset his black supporters over issues that had to do with crime where blacks had been jailed. He destroyed two blacks in his first bid for the senate before the race began because that was the only way he could win. Then he payed for his actions against a black candidate that called out the fact that he had been allowed to skate on a flimsy know nothing record. Obama's entire political record and debt to a criminal Chicago political machine. Even though Obama and his wife Michelle made 3 million dollars last tax season he is running on the idea that he came from a poor neighborhood (which he was in about a year). And that he was an outsider (meaning he had more money than the truly poor there - which made Obama uncomfortable). Jesse Jackson may have been wrong to say he would like to blank Obama's blanks off. But many blacks have been right in saying it's an outrage how Obama has used the issue of race, and talked down to blacks like their all poor folk from the ghetto. Obama went to Harvard Law and Columbia University and private schools, There is nobody as privaledged as Obama except other politicians, and not many of them. And how do we divide money if the impossible reparations are given. Many free blacks were themselves slaveowners and some of them were the largest of slaveowners, so should they get reparations. Here is an article about that. http://www.epado.bravehost.com/whiteslaves05.htm Also some whites were owned by blacks as slaves, they just called them endentured servants. I doubt they would have anyone fighting to pay them reparations (including the families who have suffered because of those actions).
