Will I receive a stimulus payment if I dont file my taxes this season?
I owe for last season taxes still (1099) and I dont plan on filing this year, I heard somewhere that my stimulus payment will be credited to my owed taxes, is this true?

No-you need to file a return, even if it shows no taxable income.

I believe you need to file the return to get the rebate check.

The way I understand it only those people that file 2007 tax returns are considered for the Economic stimulus package.

If you file in 2007, yes, it will be credited to your IRS debt. If you do not file, there will be nothing to credit ….you have to file to receive the stimulus check.

If you do not file a tax return you will NOT get a stimulus payment.

If you are required to file, you Must file! No matter if you owe or how much you owe.
Depending on your filing status you must file if you made a certain amount.
You will not qualify for the stimulus rebate if you do not file your 2007 tax return.
My suggestion would be to file. So, you can qualify for the stimulus rebate. If you do get a rebate, what you owe will be deducted from that rebate and not from your pocket
IRS has stated that if anyone is elegible for the stimulus rebate and they have an offset. It will be deducted from the rebate. Good luck!
I am guessing from the 1099 that you either got a contribution from an IRA or Pension and you forgot to have the company withold Fed and state taxes and that is why you now owe.

If you don't file your 2007 return by October 15, you won't get a stimulus payment. Even if you owe for last year, you might nas well file - then your payment would be credited toward what you owe. Otherwise you just won't get it.

The stimulus payment will be credited to your owed taxes, IF YOU QUALIFY FOR A REBATE AND FILE A 2007 FEDERAL INCOME TAX RETURN.
It is important that you file if you qualify for the rebate so that the rebate will help reduce your debt. If you do not file, you do not get the rebate and your debt will not be reduced.
